After Prison Network is taking a break but webinars are back for 2021

This is a short note from Professor Joe Graffam, founder of the Reintegration Puzzle Conference

Colleagues,

I’m writing to let you know that the Deakin-Reintegration Puzzle people are putting direct involvement in the After Prison Network on hold for the remainder of the year. Michelle McDonnell our national co-ordinator is leaving to take a position as a Senior Research and Policy Officer with the Victorian Law Reform Commission. I want to personally thank Michelle for the tremendous job that she has done supporting establishment of the APN and conduct of events and meetings. Big Respect, Michelle.

Joe and Jenny at our last conference in Darwin in 2019

Jenny Crosbie is in the final year of her PhD and taking ‘time off’ to finish the degree. She will ramp up Reintegration Puzzle activity in December (post-PhD). We are hopeful that the conference will be held ‘in person’ in Perth in 2022. Best wishes to Jenny for a painless and productive completion! I too need to step back a bit. I have two research projects that are at a point requiring substantial attention, and my volunteer board responsibilities have increased. We do have some funding to continue with a series of webinars and plan to run monthly webinars for at least 6 months starting soon. Stay tuned. We have engaged someone with lived experience who has agreed to take on the conduct of those webinars.

Joe
